How do Indonesian EFL students’ writing strategies and writing process differ from English L1 students?

This research aimed to investigate the writing strategies applied by English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students in Indonesia. It also investigated how process undergone Indonesian EFL differs from using their first language (L1). The questionnaire Petrić and Czárl (2003) was used find out students. In addition, adult model of Hayes (2012), which constructed based on students, framework participants were 135 Education department two universities. Participants’ answers questions over three stages (pre-writing, drafting, revising) analysed 5-point Likert scale. result revealed that at moderate level. They only frequently 15 38 provided high frequency. frequencies described participants’ indicated some differences L1 findings aim inform theories second/foreign performance, well support design teaching courses majors data may be useful for educators other countries second or foreign language.
